You don’t need to buy expensive prepared meals in order to keep your diet in order.  Even rising food prices in the grocery isn’t a reason to make do without your healthy supply of fruits, greens and lean meat.  If you shop wisely, you can keep both your figure thin and your wallet fat, with no compromises in between.

1. Make Your Shopping List Beforehand And Stick To It

Having a list before hitting the store so you buy only what you need.  Avoid buying products that aren’t on your list, no matter how healthy or tasty they look upon first glance.

2. Buy Whole, Unprocessed Foods

Whole foods are always cheaper since you eliminate much of activities to create processed products.  This is great news for you, since whole foods retain their natural flavor and nutrients, compared to their processed counterparts.

3. Buy All Your Food In One Place

Find one grocery near you that stocks most everything you need for your diet.  One trip once a week is obviously cheaper than multiple trips to different stores at various times.

4. Buy Frozen

Frozen fruits and vegetables, while not as attractive as fresh fare, usually sell for half the price of those lined up in racks.  While the freezing may shed away some of the nutrients, it’s usually not a drastic enough change to warrant paying so much more.

5. Buy Generic Fare

Anything with a brand name includes the marketing and packaging in the final price.  You don’t need a brand, you need healthy fare, so stick to unbranded stuff.

6. Buy Fruits And Vegetables In Season

It will take some planning but you’ll save plenty of money when you arrange your eating plans according to what fruits and vegetables are in season.  Since there’s plenty of supply, prices will be considerably cheaper, not to mention fresher.
